Calendar and Contact Sync Flytouch 3

When I first got my Flytouch 3 I could get Gmail to sync but not the calendar or contacts. In fact the check boxes weren't even showing under the "Accounts & Sync" setting. After searching the web I came across the solution. It seems that 2 files are missing from the Android 2.2 install:
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
and
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk

The solution:
  • Go to the Cyanogen Wiki
  • Download the HDPI Google Apps for CyanogenMod 6
  • Unzip the file and find the missing files named above in the /system/app folder
  • Copy them to the SD Card for your Flytouch 3
  • Using the MyPad file manager copy the files to your "Local" drive
  • Run the .apk files
Once this is done you should see the check boxes for the Calendar and Contacts in the "Accounts & Sync" settings. I didn't even need to reboot first.

BTW: I also installed the Google Talk app (Talk.apk) from the Google Apps zip as well and it worked perfectly!

**Much thanks to flyuser for this solution!

  2. Thanks for the instructions on how to sync Google's Calendar and Contacts. I install GTalk and Facebook too I was so happy about that.

Is there a way to install Google Maps? I installed it but couldn't see the icon on the screen so uninstalled.

  3. I'm glad it worked for you, including GTalk!

As far as Google Maps... I have been using Zeam for a home screen so mine works different now but try this if using the default home screen... after you install Google Maps, go to the app menu/drawer then either (I can't remember which) long press the screen or press menu then select "Add" then "Shortcut", Google Maps should be in the list, pick it and then you will see it in the app drawer. For whatever reason this tablet doesn't list all installed apps in the drawer by default but you can add them manually. I had to do this with a few other icons as well! Hope this helps!!

  8. You might not be able to install the apk files from the SD Card, try copying them to the Local drive. At any rate... here is the direct link to the zip file containing the apk files needed to sync the calendar and contacts on the Flytouch 3

  12. hi, i have a Flytouch 1 running android 2.2. I have the exact same problem that contacts and calendar do not sync. When I tried to install the two .apks listed above, i get an "! Application not installed" message.
BTW, I installed facebook from the zip file and facebook works.

Is there anything I can avoid this error?

  18. Help! I've follwed the instructions and am able to get facebook, talk and maps installed but... cannot get the calendar sync adapter to install. It goes throught the process like it's going to install but just says- application not installed. That's the problem I've encountered all day. I'm using a generic android with 2.2 installed. In the files, under system-app, I see calendar.apk and calendarprovider.apk.

I just want to make the calendar functional on this tablet and have been unsuccessful so far. I get the error *you have no calendars* when I attempt to add any event. I try to sync the tab with google but it never does, I only get the sync logo with an exclimation point on it. When I look up the accounts on the calendar app, I don't show any calendars synced with the device. I cannot figure out how to just make the calendar functional. Thanks ahead of time -Shawn
